Bullying Therapy in Manchester
The effects of bullying can last long after the behaviour stops. Whether it's something you're currently facing, or something that happened in childhood, bullying can leave deep emotional marks, from low self-esteem and anxiety to shame and isolation. You don’t have to carry that alone.

As a BACP-registered therapist, I offer one-to-one counselling in Manchester to support people who have experienced bullying in any form: at school, in the workplace or within relationships. Our sessions offer a safe, confidential space to process what happened and begin to rebuild confidence, identity and self-worth.

If you’d like to talk about how therapy could help you move forward after bullying, I’m here to listen.
Understanding Bullying
Bullying isn’t just something that happens in school; it can happen at any age, in any setting, and the effects can run deep. Whether it happened recently or years ago, bullying can leave you feeling small, ashamed, anxious or constantly on edge. It might affect how you see yourself, how you relate to others, or how safe you feel in the world.

You might be carrying memories of being excluded, belittled, mocked, or physically harmed. Or perhaps the bullying was more subtle—gossip, manipulation, or being made to feel like you didn’t belong. Even if others told you to “ignore it” or “toughen up,” those experiences matter, and they can have a lasting impact.

If you're still feeling the aftershocks of bullying, therapy can help you make sense of what's happened, and begin to rebuild your confidence, boundaries and self-worth.
How Bullying Therapy Can Help
Therapy offers a non-judgemental, confidential space to explore how bullying has affected you. It’s a chance to say the things you couldn’t say at the time, or to speak openly without fear of being dismissed or misunderstood.

Together, we might explore:
-
The emotional impact of bullying, both past and present
-
How your confidence or sense of self has been affected
-
Feelings of shame, isolation or self-blame
-
Patterns in relationships that feel difficult or unsafe
-
Ways to reconnect with your strengths and set healthy boundaries

Therapy isn’t about rehashing painful experiences unless you want to, it’s about helping you feel more grounded, more in control, and less defined by the things that were done to you.
My Approach
Everyone responds to bullying differently. Some people carry the impact quietly for years, while others feel its effects every day. However it shows up for you, we’ll work with that.

My approach is person-centred, which means our sessions will be guided by what feels most important to you. You won’t be expected to follow a script or talk about anything before you're ready. We’ll explore what’s going on at your pace, in a way that feels steady and manageable.

When helpful, I may bring in tools from Transactional Analysis (TA), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or trauma-informed approaches — especially if we’re working with patterns that were shaped by ongoing fear, exclusion or control. But first and foremost, therapy will be a space for you to feel safe, respected and heard.
Why work with me
I’m a Trauma-Informed Level-4 Certified, BACP-registered therapist (you can see my credentials here), and I’ve worked with people who have experienced bullying in childhood, adolescence and adulthood. That might include school bullying, workplace harassment, or abuse within families or social groups.

If you’ve been made to feel like your voice doesn’t matter, I want to offer a space where it truly does. You don’t have to minimise what happened or pretend you’re fine. I’ll meet you with warmth, care, and the belief that you deserve to feel safe and respected—both in therapy and beyond.
Ready to begin?
If you’re living with the effects of bullying and want to talk, I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation. It’s a chance to share a bit about your experience, ask questions, and see whether therapy might feel right for you.

There’s no expectation to have it all worked out. Just a starting point, and someone to walk alongside you as you begin.
